Cuts to Muswell Hill and Alexandra libraries

Haringey Council has agreed to reduce the opening hours for its libraries to save £675,000 as part of the cuts it needs to make for the 2025/26 budget. The new library’s starting and closing times will begin in May, subject to a consultation with the affected staff.

Of the nine borough libraries, Alexandra Park is among the most affected and will reduce its opening days from six days a week to four. Its new schedule is expected to be Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30 am-6 pm and Saturday from 10 am-5 pm.

The Muswell Hill library, when it opens in 2025, will operate Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 9:30 am-6 pm and Saturday from 10 am-5 pm.
