Three low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) in Bounds Green to continue

Haringey Council has confirmed that the three Bounds GReen low-traffic neighbourhood (LTN) trials will be made permanent.

The Bounds Green, St Ann’s and Bruce Grove West Green schemes were introduced in 2022 as part of the ‘streets for people’ programme, to reduce overall traffic levels, reduce air pollution and encourage people to walk and cycle in safer streets.

According to the council, the schemes reduced traffic by 80,000 vehicles, with 34 percent fewer collisions.  The road closures to through traffic caused only a minimal 3 percent increase along boundary roads.

Regarding air pollution, only one LTNs recorded a drop, while two others showed a possible small nitrogen dioxide increase.
