The Mystery at Rake Hall

The Mystery at Rake Hall

Join the Muswell Hill author and journalist Maureen Paton for an evening of literary sleuthing on Thursday, 1st May, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Muswell Hill Methodist Church, North Bank, Pages Lane.

The Mystery at Rake Hall by Maureen Paton, already acclaimed in The Telegraph and The Times’ crime roundups, reimagines C.S. Lewis, the creator of Narnia, investigating mysteries in post-war Oxford. Maureen will share insights from her historical research on Lewis, Oxford, the post-war crime wave, and how real-life figures, such as Dorothy L. Sayers (a friend of Lewis’s), are woven into her plot.

Intriguingly, the book also touches upon a local connection – St Jude on the Hill in Hampstead Garden Suburb, where Lewis preached during the war. Maureen will even share her unique theory about a certain lamp post outside St. Jude’s, potentially inspiring a famous Narnian landmark!

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, giving you a chance to delve deeper into these fascinating topics.

Buying Signed Copies: Maureen will bring copies of “The Mystery at Rake Hall” for those interested in purchasing a signed edition for a special discounted price of £12 (RRP £16.99).
