July 2025 Environment Report

Haringey Parks Department – General
- Midhurst Green: still awaiting response about the promised new rose bushes to fill in the gaps.
- Fortis Green Road: beds have not been weeded since February. The Parks Department is preparing a visit schedule for each area and will inform when it is the turn of the beds.
- Pocket Park
- Following the MHFGA Committee’s approval to spend £500 on new planting for the small, raised bed by the railings next to Angela Rose, the new planting will begin in the Autumn. Member Christine Cunliffe, who waters the Pocket Park every few days, arranged new plants in May, including the large container and shrub placed in the location of the old phone box.
- MHFGA 75th Anniversary Legacy – the large tree needs pruning. Quotations have been sent to Haringey with the support of Cllr Cathy Brennan, who submitted a Members Enquiry.
- No action or responses yet for the agreed new tree to be planted at the Muswell Hill bus terminal to celebrate the MHFGA’s 75th Anniversary. Cllr Cathy Brennan has submitted a Members Enquiry.
- Muswell Hill Broadway Flower Boxes and the Trough: so far, the geraniums have coped well in the heat waves.
- Colney Hatch Lane Beds: they are doing well, and Haringey is cutting the grass.
- Trees for Streets
- Crowdfunding for Trees in Muswell Hill: we have sent the list of possible new tree locations to Haringey so they can arrange for Highways to test for services, etc, and prepare for the next planting season from November 2025.
- The new trees on Broadway are suffering from a lack of watering. Haringey say they will water for the first three years, but this has not been done so far. We are following up on the matter with Haringey.
- Street Bins: as previously reported, the street bin at the junction of Woodside Avenue and Gulliver Place (leading to Tetherdown School) has disappeared. Veolia has been notified.
