Santander Bank 105 -111 Muswell Hill Broadway. (HGY/2026/0838)
The proposed upgrade of the premises includes the installation of a 46-inch digital merchandising tv display screen in the window. This would be switched on permanently and would show marketing slides to passers by with the slides changing every 30 seconds. We sent a comment to state that the potential driving hazard should be carefully considered given the location of the bank at a pedestrian crossing. The application states that the new fascia will be externally illuminated which is good news.
Albion Lodge (HGY/2026/0652) Fortis Green
This is an early Victorian semi-detached listed house (its pair is Albion Cottage). We were contacted by a neighbour who had concerns about some aspects of a substantial planned refurbishment- in particular that the window frames were no longer to be painted black as they have been since (as far as can be ascertained) since the house was built. Albion Cottage was listed at the same time as Albion Lodge and they were built to appear similar in appearance . It also has black window frames so it would look odd if the window frames at Albion Lodge were to be stained timber rather than painted black as seems to be proposed. We conveyed these concerns to the Council.
