A group of seven oak and hornbeam trees in Coldfall Wood, an ancient woodland and nature reserve, are threatened with felling. Haringey Council have agreed to cut them down following a request from property insurers who maintain that the trees are causing subsidence to a nearby property.

Haringey have agreed to suspend the felling pending a meeting on 5th March, but campaigners are asking for all felling action to stop until an independent review can be carried out. In similar circumstances, trees in Queen’s Wood were saved when the insurer found another solution to the problem.

FOLLOW-UP MEETING

The former care home at Cranwood House, located at the junction of Muswell Hill Road and Woodside Avenue, has been sitting empty for many years and more recently has been used as a men’s night shelter.

Haringey Council has submitted plans for a new housing development to be placed on the site after demolition. The proposal is for 41 new homes for market sale and council rent in a mixture of apartments, maisonettes and houses in buildings of three, four and six storeys high. • to discuss the proposal before a planning application is made; and
• give local people the opportunity to ask questions and give their views on the proposal as it stands at this stage.

Have your say on Heritage and Design

Haringey Council is inviting all MHFGA members to a virtual public consultation on Heritage and Design taking place on Tuesday 12th January at 1pm-2.30pm and 6pm-7.30pm.The Council is taking its first steps towards creating a New Local Plan to set out how planning policies for the borough grows and develops through to 2037. The New Local Plan aims to play a proactive role in securing good growth by

• defining clear expectations for the design of developments;
• reconciling the need for high levels of densification while addressing inequalities and
• preserving and enhancing the borough’s local character and natural and historic environments.

The event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams – please use the following two links to register for the online events:

The Council are inviting comments on the proposed scheme until 13th December 2020. You can view the full proposal by clicking HERE.
