The Muswell Hill & Fortis Green Association Community Fund is back, this time with an increased grant of £750 to support local organisations that make a real positive impact on our area and the people who live here.

We accept applications from local voluntary, community or recreational groups, registered or not, longstanding or recently established for a one-off event or purpose.

It came to our attention that the owner of 71 Muswell Hill Broadway planned to remove the historic Langton clock which has been attached to this address since 1899.

From our swift actions the owner is now aware that he would need to be granted planning permission to remove it. The clock is located in a Conservation Area.

The Langton clock is a well-known and much-loved landmark that the Association has been associated with for many years and which we want to preserve in its current position for the benefit of the community.

Quite a number of streets in Muswell Hill, Fortis Green & Alexandra have young trees which have been planted by Haringey Council.

Some are struggling to survive in the prolonged dry spell. Regular watering during the summer months in the first three years after planting is critical for the establishment of a newly planted tree.

Please check outside your front door and along your street and if you have a young tree nearby and can help, please give it some water regularly in this dry period. Often, the young trees have a water pipe in the ground and it is best to pour some water down the pipe and around ther base.

The Arboricultural Association has a useful “Young Tree Watering” poster which you can find HERE.

Thank you!
